25th Birthday Goals

I’m Turning 25: Accepting Dares to Start This Year With a Ridiculous Bang!

You’ve got less than 1 week until your upcoming celebration of completing another year on this earth and starting a new one: Your Birthday!

Well guys, that’s me! I’m going to be a quarter century old on Sunday! I want to end 24 with a very ridiculous bang, and start 25 with an even bigger one. That’s where you come in!

I’m taking suggestions, dares, and challenges to do over the next 2 weeks. Humongous to Microscopic | WTF-that’s-crazy to sweet and simple | Things that’ll make me laugh, to things that’ll make me cry, to things that’ll teach me what life is all about | 5 minutes to 24 hours | etc etc etc – ANYTHING!

Here are 4 of the main ones I’m looking for:

  • Something that will get me out of my comfort zone
  • Something that will teach me about love and gratitude
  • Something small that will brighten my day
  • Something that you’ve done that changed your life
  • Anything else you got!

Here’s Why I’m Doing This:

If you take a look at my bucket list, you’ll see that I’m someone that likes to DO a lot of things. Needless to say, as I wrote about in my post about coming back to The Mad To Live, this past year had been, well, to put it lightly, a bit of a shitstorm! I’m sure you’ve all been there at some point or maybe you’re even there now… sometimes when the going gets tough, well, it can be tough!

And now, well, I’m just ready to go! Not a damn thing is holding me back anymore, and what I see in the horizon is pretty freaking spectacular. I’ve got a lot of places to go, things to do and people to meet this year!

This is going to be a year that I live very much on purpose. It can be so easy to get caught up in the complacency of life, even when you’re not happy with the routine. Somehow, the mundane and even the painful become comfortable because its simply what you’re used to. But, eventually, when we get stuck in that kind of pattern, we will hit a breaking point where we say we’re done with it. What the hell is the point of life if you’re not enjoying it, if you’re not making every day count, if you’re not resting your head to bed with feelings of gratitude for all that you have in your life.

This is to help me keep the momentum going, to learn lessons I might otherwise not put myself in the position to learn, to try something new, to get out of my comfort zone, to open my eyes, mind and heart.

HOW TO DARE ME:

Either leave a comment below, shoot me an email at Lauren@TheMadToLive.com, or even upload a video of your dare on YouTube and send it to me. I’ll publish a follow-up post of the ones I’m going to do!

  • Something that will get me out of my comfort zone
  • Something that will teach me about love and gratitude
  • Something small that will brighten my day
  • Something that you’ve done that changed your life
  • Anything else you got!

Thanks for reading along over the past couple of years on The Mad To Live, and may this upcoming year of my life and the blog be one hell of a crazy and unforgettable adventure!

About Lauren Rains

Life gets pretty f*cking nuts sometimes, doesn't it? Every day I wake up more to myself and more to this world. This website is an expression of that.

Space Travelers is multi-layered exploration of our existence here on this rock we call Earth. We're going to talk about the matrix, UFOs, and astral travel, and explore our awakening into the divine masculine and feminine. We'll discover our bodies both the physical and subtle body. We'll contemplate the sacredness of mother earth and the concept of who/what the hell made this place in the first place?

I also aim to keep this website rooted and grounded, referring to topics that are effecting us in the here and now, such as fighting against the oppression of women worldwide, pealing away layers of social conditioning greedy capitalists are using to turn us into consumers, and navigating this insane technological revolution before the AI take over. I can geek out on consciousness up in space all day, but life happens here on the ground and this is the time we were born into.

This website is about integrating into our full human experience, aligning with ourselves and with each other, shedding skins and transcending into the unfolding layers of ourselves.

My wish for you, and for myself, is to unfold and evolve into our highest selves. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. We need not sell our souls to the status quo.

I'm on the journey too. I write this blog to speak to others who are waking up, or who desire to wake up. Because we can't do this alone.

I TOOK THAT PICTURE! <3 Congrats youngin'! I say you and I team up because I'm publishing 101 things to do in 1001 days: Countdown to my 30th birthday. This Saturday the countdown begins!

    • Hey Amy! haha I love this picture! I look like I’m about to take down Lara Croft or something haha.
I LOVE your countdown idea!!!! There is absolutely no way I can NOT join in!!!

  • Happy birthday for next week! 25… still a wee nipper!

    How about…

Camp on top of a mountain and watch the sun rise on your birthday

Kayak out and camp on a deserted island with friends

Make and bury a time capsule with friends and/or family

Do a photo project to document your life at age 25

Go on a flying lesson (this was the best birthday present I ever received)

Will have a think of some more. Have a great birthday,

    Jon x

    • I love every single one of those ideas Jon! Brilliant!

      Here are my thoughts:
Photo Project – I’ve been thinking about doing a time-lapse video of this year. 365 photos of my beautiful smiling face face all played in 60 seconds!
Camp on mountain and watch sunrise – This I can do! There’s a trail right near my house, and from the top peak it looks out on the Rocky Mountains. It’ll be gorgeous!
Time Capsule – This is a unique one. It’s making the list.
Flying Lesson – Okay this would be badass! I’ll investigate how much it costs!

Got any more ideas, let me know! Thanks so much for these though! I’m already inspired.

      • if not already suggested, how about doing the one thing that challenges you the most. i’ve yet to this, but I still have 55yrs. left on this planet. 😉

        • Hey Aimee!
Hmm the ONE thing that challenges me the most – that’s a toughy – I can name a lot of things that challenge me haha. There are a few larger-scheme things that I’m looking to conquer right now, so maybe I’ll pick a small facet of one of them and aim to do it over my challenge period.
Thanks for the suggestion Aimee, and here’s to a great 55 years 🙂

  • LOVE this idea!

I’ve got two for you, both which would challenge you in different ways:

    1. Write yourself a love letter and post it on your blog.
    2. Shave your head.

    xx becca

    • Rebecca! So, I LOVE #1 – perfect for a birthday especially, plus it’ll be great to read it a year from now and in years to go. 🙂 That’s going on the list!
As for #2 – shaving my head – oh boy – thats something I’ve always wanted to do, but man, that would be tough. I have long mermaid hair, and shaving it off, well, that definitely is out of my comfort zone! 🙂
      Thanks Rebecca!

  • Hi Lauren,

It just so happens your 25th birthday coincides nicely with a challenge I’m running. It’s the Continuous Creation Challenge and I’d love for you to join me, some other members of the Puttytribe, and some folks I don’t even know about in it. I have the audacious goal to get 100,000 people to do this within two years and I’d love for you to be one of the first!

It definitely covers something that will get you out of your comfort zone and something that I’ve done that changed my life.

If you’re sufficiently intrigued, check out the details here:

    • Hi Joel!!!
I LOVE YOUR CHALLENGE! Unfortunately, I’m catching you right in the middle of it! But I’m IN for the long haul next time. Or if anything, maybe within the next 2 weeks while I set out to do some of these dares/challenges I’ll make this one of them. This is a unique one, and will relate so well to some of the creative things I’ve been wanting to do.

I read your rules and love them. This is hardcore. Not for the light-hearted. A fast, no social media, no TV or music – just straight CREATING. Brilliant!

Thanks Joel! You are fantastic, and I hope you’re kicking ass on your Continuous Creation Challenge as we speak!
      – LAUR 🙂

      • Hey Laur,
Did you do your own Continuous Creation Challenge yet? If so, how did it go? If not, when? 🙂

  • Jonathan

Comfort Zone – Telling someone you have hidden an unwanted truth from – the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Love and Gratitude – Speak to a homeless person once a month and buy them lunch.

A Life Changer – Volunteer with children with a less fortunate upbringing than your lucky self.

A Day brightener – All of the above + take a photo of sunlight each day ;).

    • Ah Jonathan, I can always count on you for an insightful response. Thank you!
      I love all of them!
Particularly intrigued by the comfort zone one. I sat and thought about it for some time, and finally one hit me. A very big unwanted truth that I chose not to share with a good friend of mine. A judgement I made, that could be true or false, but I still made the judgement.
The others I love too, and appreciate so much your input! You have a good taste for LIFE 🙂
      – Laur

  • Thats a bad ass photo… and perfect illustration for your challenge.

  • I love this idea!! Can I steal it? hehe. I’ve been trying to think of ways to get into some big scary goals.
